Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck celebrated their wedding August 20 in front of family and friends at their home on Hampton Island in Ricebboro, Georgia. Lopez had a specific vision for all events over the weekend of the wedding and commissioned Colin Cowie of Colin Cowie Lifestyle to help bring it to life. This special weekend kicked off with a Friday night rehearsal dinner.
The bride wore a custom Ralph Lauren design for the altar walk. Ralph Lauren has always been a key designer for the star of the movie Marry Me . The wedding dress she wore at the ceremony was the first of three dresses Ralph Lauren had created for the evening. More than 1,000 handkerchiefs and 500 meters of fabric were cut into ruffles to make an ethereal version of Ralph Lauren’s classic turtleneck dress. The frills were then hand-jointed to create a voluminous, romantic skirt. The sleeve was intertwined with a draped ruffle from the back of the turtleneck to the shoulder. Her long veil added extra romance to her look.
The groom completed the bride’s look with a classic Ralph Lauren Couture white tuxedo jacket, black pants and a black bow tie. All five children wore white Ralph Lauren Couture designs. The 45-minute ceremony took place under the white metal frame of a custom-created church in the backyard overlooking the North Newport River. Life coach and author Jay Shetty led the ceremony. (He also oversaw the weddings of Lily Collins and director Charlie McDowell last year.)
After the ceremony, family and friends, all dressed in white, gathered for a cocktail reception at the house before dinner led by chef Bruce Moffett and Cru Catering. The festivity of the night ended with a Minette Rushing Custom Cakes cake, a dance party led by DJ Dubz, and a fireworks display. Jennifer Lopez then wore two dresses, one with strings of pearls and the other in a mermaid silhouette and embellished with Swarovski crystals. These designs were also signed by Ralph Lauren.
After Saturday’s ceremony, guests returned on Sunday to celebrate the newlyweds at a brunch.
The couple’s wedding is actually the culmination of a love story of more than 20 years. The two met while filming Gigli in 2001 . In November 2002, Ben Affleck proposed to Harry Winston with a 6.1-carat pink solitaire diamond. However, the day before the ceremony, the couple announced that they had decided to postpone their wedding due to excessive media attention.

They managed to surprise their fans once again when they got married in June at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
