4 Step Skin Care for Oily Skin
Unfortunately, oily skin is one of the skin types that require special and sensitive care. Problems such as shine or acne, which can be easily solved in other skin types, also require more struggle for oily skin. The good news is that with the right skin care routine, it is possible to get rid of these problems!
According to beauticians, it is quite easy to keep your skin healthy, clean and matte by creating a simple four-step skin care routine that you can apply morning and evening. The most important point you should pay attention to while following the steps listed below is to choose skin care products suitable for your skin type when choosing products such as cleansers and moisturizers.
Step 1: Morning and Evening Skin Cleansing
Regardless of your skin type, the most important step of every skin care routine is to clean our skin deeply. According to experts, oily skin types have the potential to tolerate a more intense cleansing. Although we all wash our faces in the morning and evening, skin cleansing in the morning is much more important for oily skin.
When we wake up in the morning, we may think that our skin is already clean due to the skin care routine we applied the night before. However, especially oily skin continues to produce oil and break down skin cells overnight. Therefore, the skin should be thoroughly cleaned both in the morning and in the evening with an exfoliating cleansing gel.
Step 2: Using Tonic
After removing all kinds of make-up, dirt and oil from our skin, the first thing we should do is to use an exfoliating tonic containing salicylic acid, glycolic acid or lactic acid, if possible. For oily skin with more open pores and high oil secretion than other skin types, alcohol-containing tonics may also be an option.
The point to be considered while applying the tonic is to apply the tonic with a soft cotton pad and not to apply too much pressure to the skin. Although many skin care brands produce toners suitable for all skin types, green tea and rose water can also be considered as a more natural option.
Step 3: Skin Treatment
This is the step that varies the most from person to person in the skin care routine created for oily skin. Although the needs of each skin are different, according to skin care experts, oily skin can benefit from products containing benzoyl peroxide as they are generally acne prone. In addition, retinol products applied at night can help keep pores clean and skin a healthy glow.
Although people with oily skin complain a lot about this situation, according to experts, oily skin also has advantages. Saying that the risks such as sunspots and wrinkles are very low for oily skin, experts argue that people with this skin type are actually lucky in this respect.
Step 4: Morning and Evening Moisturizing
If you have an oily skin type, moisturizing your skin is one of the most important steps in your skincare routine. Although there is a false belief among the public that oily skin should not use moisturizer, this is not true at all. All skin types need moisturizer. The point to be considered is to choose a moisturizer suitable for the skin type.
You can take the following three features as a guide when choosing a moisturizer for oily skin:
- Lightweight
- Oil free
- Water based
Since all moisturizers formulated for acne-prone skin have these properties, it can be used as a moisturizer for oily skin. The most important advantage of these moisturizers is that they help to eliminate the shine problem peculiar to oily skin.
